Many patients are alone on their birthday. Asiyah Ahmad founded this program over the summer because her grandmother was hospitalized and in need of someone in order to translate Arabic to English for her and her doctor. While Asiyah was there, she saw an elderly man who was celebrating his birthday, only accomplished by the nurses telling him "It's your birthday." His room was left alone for him to have a lonely birthday. This is not the only instance of this happening. This program has been created with the intention of ensuring these patients have a memorable birthday.
